Foreign Correspondent course for HKBU, January 2012 - overview

Date: January 2012
Location: Prague, Czech Republic

Now in its fifth year, this course is designed for students studying for an MA in International Journalism Studies at Hong Kong Baptist University.

The course gives the students an introduction to international reporting, with trainers and speakers from respected international media. It is run in parallel with our 'open' Foreign Correspondent course, giving HKBU students a chance to meet other young journalists and students from all over the world.

Story-writing project & site visit
In addition to classroom training sessions, HKBU students will complete a practical reporting assignment while in Prague, and we have also arranged a site visit to Radio Free Europe / Radio Liberty.

Trainers
The trainers are all experienced journalists who report for respected international media: photojournalist Dean Cox (AP, New York Times, Bloomberg News); freeleance journalist Michael Jordan (Christian Science Monitor, Foreign Policy); and David Rennie (The Economist).

Social and cultural programme
In addition to the training sessions, the students participate in social and cultural activities, providing an introduction to local culture and the opportunity to meet students on the parallel 'open' Foreign Correspondent course, TOL Training staff and the course trainers.

Who should apply?
This course is only open to journalism students from Hong Kong Baptist University.
