Who attended the New Media Course?
Participants working in the non-profit sector from Kyrgyzstan, Moldova, Georgia, Russia and the Netherlands attended the summer 2010 course.
The trainers
The course was led by Douglas Arellanes, head of research and development at the Media Development Loan Fund's Center for Advanced Media in Prague. Guest trainers included Dan McQuillan, Jonathan Marks and Christopher Walker. See the trainers page for more details about the team.
Practical advice for NGOs
Participants learnt how to embrace new media tools to spread their message wider and faster and improve internal efficiency. The course also covered what every manager should know when taking on a new media project, included case studies and how to use social media for social impact. And each afternoon featured practical sessions to introduce participants to numerous new media tools including blogs, social networks, mapping tools and internal management tools, among others.
