The project aims to secure the future of Neweurasia and to further TOL’s organizational development. Donor: Hivos
Objectives
One of the two overarching objectives of this project is to secure the future of Neweurasia by further integrating it into TOL’s editorial processes, grant programs, and technical development. In this way, Transitions Online, TOL’s online magazine about the region, will benefit from the addition of Neweurasia’s excellent content, regional expertise, and blogging/technical know-how. Neweurasia will benefit from TOL’s editorial experience, international reach, fundraising, and greater access to TOL training programs. The other overarching objective is to jumpstart TOL’s organizational development by contributing to the implementation of several key strategies found in TOL’s Strategic Plan for 2009-2010. That plan has been designed to lead TOL in its ambition to grow into the region’s leading media development organization, with a sound financial foundation and multiple income sources (both commercial and non-commercial).
Project Activities
Project activities will focus on editorial, technical, and training integration and involve a significant upsurge in multimedia content on both sites. The content level on Neweurasia will stay at similar levels as the previous year, but we expect that editorial integration will result in the regular appearance of neweurasia content on the TOL homepage with all the added benefits that will bring to both sites. Two years of building the capacities outlined below will result in a stronger TOL and one better equipped to continue to operate high-quality, training programs for Central Asia, and to showcase engaging and important journalism produced by the region’s journalists and citizen journalists.
