Since our founding in 1999, Transitions Online has been offering a unique perspective on the post-communist world’s ongoing political, economic, social, and cultural transition. We intend to keep it that way.

Currently, 85 percent of our budget is covered by financial support from various foundations, embassies, and others who share our vision and interest in the post-communist region. Self-generated revenue finances the rest of the budget. In order to lessen our dependency on grants, we are increasingly focusing on ways to earn revenue from the sale of site subscriptions, advertising, syndication, and other commercial activities.

But equally important are the donations that we receive from our readers and fans. Every little bit helps, and we are grateful for every penny or euro that you contribute to our mission.

Please remember that every dollar received goes toward supporting the continuation of TOL’s independent coverage, as well as training the region’s up-and-coming reporters.
